Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, First United Pentecostal Church of Augusta Georgia is implementing this Phase 1 Plan to partially re-open on May 17, 2020 to allow individuals to gather and worship safely while implementing suggested best practices regarding the health and safety of those attending our services. Based on the current information available, it is expected this plan will be modified to allow more normal services to resume on June 12 barring any unforeseen events. The staff, members, and guests of First UPC are asked to practice social distancing (6-foot rule) and to follow this plan to protect the health and well-being of everyone.
.Seating in the Sanctuary will be limited to maintain the 6-foot rule between non-cohabitation people. Church members will be invited by phone or text with details of when to attend. In order to maximize the number of attendees there will be two Sunday services,9:30 AM and 11:00 AM and one service on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM. Please note due to limited seating, it is important that only those contacted attend. The invitee lists will be rotated so everyone gets a chance to attend.
.All invitees need to come in by the front Sanctuary door and exit by the Sanctuary side door.
.Ushers will escort invitees to their assigned seats (to maintain 6-foot rule) and ask everyone to remain in their assigned seats (i.e.do not change seats as could violate the 6-foot rule).
.The water fountain in the Sanctuary foyer will be off and the men and women’s bathrooms will be open only for necessity since the bathrooms have to be sanitized after every use.
.The Nursery, Sanctuary Basement, Fellowship Hall, and Cottage will be closed to non-staff members. Please do not go into these areas.
.If an individual is considered “at risk”, has fever over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, cough, or shortness of breath they should plan not to attend and let the Church staff know they are not coming.
.Church staff will take temperatures via non-contact thermometers at the entrance and if someone is running a temperature, they will be asked to return home.
.No offering bags will be passed. Offerings will continue to be collected online at the church website www.firstupcaugusta.org, by mail P.O. Box 212087 Augusta Ga 30917, or by text-to-give 706-907-0851. A drop box (no hand contact) will be provided for those that desire to give on location.
.Church members will be asked to pray in their seats. We will not encourage tradition altar calls due to social distancing.
.It is important at the end of service that all members exit out the Sanctuary side door in an orderly fashion while maintaining 6-foot distancing. It is also important that Church members not impede the flow of those exiting, once outside the door.
.The Sanctuary seating and other contact surfaces will be sanitized after each service.
